When will we ever learn to read our History books? This Blog will be discussing ways to sort out some aspects of society today, whereby we can attain some modicum of stability in the future. Please comment on what I write, as I'm just thinking of ways to increase democracy across countries and i'm always thinking of freedom.

Sitting Out Back, Having a Bud...

This Summer it is my firm intention to do as little as possible, whilst of course making asinine comments on politics and other matters, and whilst waiting to see if I get into my University of choice in the fall.  Tomorrow I'll be leaving the comfort of Southern Ontario, Canada, for the relative wilderness of Northern Ontario.  This brings up an interesting question for me, as my destination is part of the Great Lakes region, famed for its beauty and renowned for the hunting oppurtunities available.  What's the problem, you may ask?  I like guns, I like firing them, but the thought of actually killing an animal in cold blood is anathema to me.  There is nothing I would enjoy more than to sit on the porch of a lake front house, looking over the waters in the receding light, surrounded by evergreens, a Bud in one hand and a copy of National Geographic in the other, and getting bitten by bloody mosquitoes.  Having ratched through the aforementioned National Geographic magazines, i've grown fond of the backwoods life still lived by many people in North America, and someday I may live that life, but for the time being, the part which many of my supposed idols rely on-hunting, is strictly a no no.
This in turn, whilst on the subject of animals, brings up another strange thing.  In Great Britain, there is a Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and a Royal Society for the Protection of Birds.  However, it is sad to note that for some reason there is only a National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children.  Who should we value more, and to whose aid should we rush first?  It may be a mundane point as you might say-What's in a name?  But it is rather disturbing that such a misomner should come about...

N.B.  Please do not get the idea that i'm trying to advertise National geographic, it's just that's all I've got to read at the moment.  it'll pass... :-)
